One of the most popular shoot locations, and a personal favourite, is the abandoned industrial buildings to be discovered in a secret West Yorkshire location. The mix of rustic buildings, peeling paint and overgrown roads and garages are the perfect contrast to use as a backdrop or to reflect in the immaculate paintwork of a gleaming car.
As chance would have it, not only is it completely open and abandoned it is also part dilapidated Good Year warehouse, so very fitting background memorabilia for shooting cars. There hasn’t been an opportunity to venture inside the building to see if the motoring paraphernalia has all gone, but it’s definitely worth a look for next time.
The 2017 Audi TT is undeniably a great looking car. With styling cues shared with its bigger brother, the R8, the TT might be a familiar sight on the roads now but it definitely still has the ability to turn heads. The cutting edge styling of angles and sharp creases contrast perfectly with the exposed concrete, rusting steel and moss covered roadways this fantastic location offers.
The superb highly polished black paintwork created the perfect mirror for the clouding over weather, not only providing better lighting conditions for photography but also bringing a fitting moody element to the abandoned surroundings.
The futuristic lines of the TT work so well in this rugged and crumbling environment, it’s the perfect setting to portray the crisp modern form. With the daytime running lights on especially, the high tech lighting and contemporary design stands out even further amongst the tatty, weathered lettering of the iconic motoring Good Year brand. Natural stone colouring and sun lit planting stands side by side with bold LED lighting and Tron-like neon colours.
As much as the abandoned industrial highlights the cutting edge design of the latest Audi TT, making the clean lines stand out even further, nothing puts it back in its place like a sunrise or sunset. A dramatic skyline, a frost covered landscape or a mist strewn grassland show just how the focus can be taken away from the car again. Leaving the modern automotive element as a secondary feature, blending into the background amongst the colours and intensity brought only by the sun.
