Refreshed Range Rover Evoque Roars

If you’re looking for an example of a company that can seemingly do no wrong at the minute you need to look towards Jaguar Land Rover. With Jaguar receiving endless praise for its stunning F-Type, statesman-like  XJ and brand new XE before it is even launched, and Land Rover plaudits queuing up to let them know how good their new first class Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and forthcoming Discovery Sport are. For the latter of those two, for a company that this year is about to lose its Genesis, its founding model and reason for the company formation 65 years after first going into production, they seem to be coping ok with it. Sure they will be replacing the Defender with an all-new model, but the purists and driving fanatics of the model will be a very hard bunch to please.

With all those new models doing so well it was about time they gave a quick refresh to their biggest selling model of the last few years, the Range Rover Evoque. The Evoque has become a familiar sight on our roads and it’s easy to see why. range-rover-evoque-j3s-2016my-ac-13The chiselled looks and angular styling together with the cache of that Range Rover badge for a fraction of the price, it was always going to be popular. So Land Rover has given the model a refresh before it becomes tired and a little too familiar.

Early impressions of the new model show a subtle yet effective evolution of the existing style, creating a more aggressive and sporting appearance to the car. The purposeful lines and shape of the Evoque have always been one of its best features and the new styling tweaks enhance the appeal even further. With a new simpler grille and deeper front bumpers the front of the car looks more menacing and like a top of the range sport model. The cleaner looking LED daytime running lights are stylish additions to the headlight cluster and the smaller fog lights in the bumper add to the smarter, less fussy front end. Taking styling cues from the new Range Rover and RR Sport, Land Rover have managed to bring the Evoque more in to line with the current line up and update them for a more modern appearance. range-rover-evoque-j3s-2016my-ac-1The side profile and rear of the car remain largely unchanged with only minor alterations to freshen up the design, again showing the effectiveness of the styling on the original car.

For a car that was first shown as a concept in 2008 and released in 2011 it still retains a style and desirability that rivals can only dream of. By beefing up the looks of the new model and making the appearance chunkier and more sporting, Land Rover are playing on the models strengths and enhancing its appeal even further. With the Geneva Motor Show giving a hint of a forthcoming convertible version too, the Evoque is sure to be a firm favourite for many years to come; just another reason why Jaguar Land Rover continue to go from strength to strength across the whole of their ranges.range-rover-evoque-j3s-2016my-ac-9
